1. How do the Electric Scooters Function?

- The power source of an electric scooter is the battery.
- The motor provides movement to the scooter.
- The controller of an electric vehicle receives an electric pulse from the throttle (switch/sensor) and allows electric current to flow from the battery to the motor.
- The motor hub rotates at a speed based on the input current to the motor.
2. Do we need a different license to ride electric scooters in India?
Electric scooters are of 2 types – low speed and high speed. Low speed electric scooters have a motor wattage of less than 250 watts and a maximum speed of 25kmph.
As per the Motor Vehicle Act of India, you do not need a driving license for low speed electric scooters. If the motor wattage is more than 250 watts or the speed is more than 25kmph, you will need to hold a valid two wheeler driving license.
The two wheeler driving license is mandatory for both, ICE and electric. BGauss A2 does not require a license to ride, whereas BGauss B8 does.
3. Can I ride Electric bikes on National Highways?
Yes, you are allowed to ride the high-speed electric scooters on national highways like any other existing ICE scooters. But make sure you carry your charger along, so that you can charge your scooter on the go. Alternatively, you can use swap stations if your vehicle has a swap option.
Make sure you map your charging stations or swap stations (just like you map your petrol pumps!) in order to avoid range anxiety.
4. Does my Electric Scooter need registration?
Electric scooters are of 2 types – low speed and high speed. Low speed electric scooters have a motor wattage of less than 250 watts and a maximum speed of 25kmph.
As per the Motor Vehicle Act of India, you do not need a driving license for low speed electric scooters. If the motor wattage is more than 250 watts or the speed is more than 25kmph, you will need to register your electric scooter with the RTA (Road Transport Authorities).
Many State governments have waived the life tax and registration charges for electric vehicles, which helps in reducing TCO (Total Cost of Ownership). Our BGauss A2 does not require registration, whereas BGauss B8 requires registration.
5. Is Electric two-wheeler safe?
Yes, the BGauss electric two-wheelers are as safe as any other ICE two-wheelers!

7. Are E-bikes good for the Economy?
E-bikes make sense for the economy in multiple ways. For an individual, it can help recover the cost of the vehicle in about 3 years in comparison to the fuel and maintenance cost of ICE two wheelers.
For a nation, it greatly saves on forex in terms of oil imports and also a huge amount of money spent by the governments and individuals to control pollution or the diseases caused by pollution.
8. Can we ride Electric Scooters in Rain?
Yes, you can comfortably ride the BGauss electric scooters in the rain, as the motor is an IP67 motor which is water resistant up to 120mm for 30 minutes (limited ingress permitted with no harmful effects). This effectively means that the rains will not have an impact on the electric scooter’s functioning!
9. Can we wash the electric scooter?
Yes, you can comfortably wash the BGauss electric scooters, but not with very high pressure.
